DAVID
HIRST, MANAGING DIRECTOR

David was fascinated by the organ from
an early age. His musical career began at Chichester Cathedral, where
he was a chorister under John Birch. Later he became Organ Scholar of
Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he read music and studied the organ
with Nicolas Kynaston.
From 1985 to 2002, David worked for management consulting and computer
companies in the UK and Japan. He became fluent in Japanese, and
studied at UCLA in the US, gaining the degree of Master of Business
Administration (MBA).
In 2002, David returned to the musical world as Assistant Organist of
St Martin-in-the-Fields, London. He played for the church services,
concerts, recordings and tours, and broadcast frequently for the BBC.
He went on to the Royal Academy of Music to study organ performance
with Lionel Rogg and graduated with distinction from the post-graduate
diploma course. He has studied the organ with Thomas Trotter and has
performed in the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and
South Africa.
David joined H&H in September 2008, and succeeded Mark Venning as
Managing Director in October 2009. His wife, Naomi, is the new
Administrator of H&H.
