ST ALBAN'S CHURCH, COPENHAGEN

St Alban's Church was designed by Sir Arthur Blomfield and consecrated in 1887 in the presence of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the King and Queen of Denmark and the Tsar and Tsarina of Russia.  It has served the Anglican Chaplaincy in Denmark ever since, including the period of German occupation from 1940 to 1945 when services were continuously maintained.  It has a beautiful position near the harbour.

JW Walker & Sons built an organ for the new church, in a chamber on the south side of  the chancel.  It was altered several times during the twentieth century, eventually losing its original character.  The new organ, which includes some of the old pipework, was designed in consultation with Dr Nicholas Thistlethwaite.  The casework from the old organ has been re-used; the new spotted metal front pipes have been decorated by Howell & Bellion to a design by Harrison & Harrison
